Spring is here, which usually inspires spring cleaning. Spring cleaning can be therapeutic if you approach it with an open mind and invigorating mentality. You can start small or go with the gusto, but whatever your spring cleaning style is, your home will surely thank you as it can open up space and new opportunities.

Cleaning the entire home will help you feel refreshed, rejuvenated and more comfortable in your own living space. Here are some tips to help you make the most out of spring-cleaning.

Refresh Your Colors

One of the easiest ways to spice up a boring space is to add more color. If you have all white walls, consider painting the room with a color that matches your mode.

Based on the room and space, we recommend different colors. In the bedroom, you want more subtle mellow colors, like deep purples, blues and or dark greens. The colors inspired by nature will help you fall to sleep easily.

In the living room, you can paint an accent wall with a bright color – orange or red are in this year. By painting one wall, you provide a center focus with a splash of color that helps frame the space and add more life into your home.

If you have a home office or study, stick to natural colors. We recommend soft blues or even a grey or off white. The goal is to have a nice balance but not have any colors that are too bright or distracting. After all, if your work environment is too loud you may feel more compelled to not work.

Clear Out Clutter

Spring-cleaning doesn’t have to happen just in the springtime. Spend some time going through your closet, office and junk drawers sooner than later and you will feel more grounded. By cleaning out clutter and removing unwanted things we clear space in our home, which can allow us to energetically feel more open. Start by removing the items you no longer wear. The closet is usually a place that piles high with cloths we no longer use and getting ride of them will reduce clutter. Getting closet organizers is a great way to stay in control of your stuff and make the most out of your space.

Lighten Up

Even though it is winter, the light can still shine in. Open up your blinds and curtains to let light in. If you have low lighting in specific areas around the home, opening windows to let natural light in is a great way to add overall balance to your home. Consider replacing all your light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs. This will help the environment and give your home a more natural effect. Tiffany Home Design was featured in the 2011 Street of Affordable Homes Tour in Tigard, Oregon. At approximately 3,000 square feet over three floors, The Korum – Home #3 on the tour – offered opportunities to showcase a wide-range of staging techniques.

Since this home was built with an open design, potential buyers might feel lost in the space. To keep this from happening, there are many thoughtfully placed details that add warmth to the space. Muted colors along a theme helped accentuate the high quality accents throughout the property, including rich wood floors, detailed cabinetry, granite countertops, and of course the beautiful view of Mt. Hood.

The most noteworthy part of this particular home was the game room and wine cellar on the bottom floor. Creative details added comfort and a touch of humor to help potential buyers feel right at home.

Home Staging Project Adds Warmth and Light

This Vancouver property owner was an investor that we have done work for in the past. Even though the property had been renovated, the property was very neutral and lacked any style. By bringing in a punch of red in the family room the space really came alive! The master bedroom was quite large in size but by staging the bedroom, the space actually looks even bigger now.
